Kerala trip

Despite being in a foreign country, I didn't go travelling around much cuz sometimes I just don't feel like it, or timing isn't right or these could all just be silly excuses haha. Anyways, I did take the chance to go to a place called Kerala. It's basically another state of India located in the southwest part. There were quite a number of us who went and it was for 3 days and 2 nights.

So we left at 3 am on Saturday, we were suppose to leave at 2 am but some miscommunication occured between the travel agent and us which led us to waiting around for an hour, feeling tired, hungry and sleepy at the same time ( well for some reason I felt hungry haha)

Finally the 2 coaches and a car came, all of us got settled for the 7 hour ride. Everyone just wanted to sleep obviously but it wasn't a very comfy ride.

Reasons why it wasn't comfy :
1. Roads were extremely bumpy for some reason
2. Air con temp was so low, it was freezing and we had no idea how to turn it up
3. We were a bit squished here and there and legs got crammed

Despite it all, we still managed to dose off- effect of tiredness. By the time I woke up, we were entering Kerala state.

Check post

We still had around 2 more hrs on the road....

Some random shot

Then, we finally stopped somewhere, on the corner of some street. I was looking around for our hotel but didn't see one, instead I saw a dirty street. Thought we were stranded until we found out, that were going ttravel by a bus to our hotel. The bus was quite a big one, and very comfortable! Didn't know that kinda bus exists in India haha. So it was a 15 mins journey to Marina Regency( the hotel). Marina Regency sounds so Malaysian don't u think?

We were practically starving after that long journey, so after checking in, we headed out for lunch. They took us to another hotel which has more of a British Colonial theme. Had a lot of western dishes on the menu, a breath of fresh air actually after seeing Indian food all the time. I was in the mood for a little Italian, so I ordered the spaghetti. Pretty good actually considering the fact that I'm eating one in India haha. Some dishes looked intriguing cuz they came on steaming hot plates with smoke rising out haha.

During lunch

Supposedly right after lunch we were suppose to head to the theme park but since we felt like stuffed turkeys, it didn't seem like a good idea cuz thoughts of ppl puking arose. Instead, we took a walk around Kochin city. Not much to see but well it helped us pass time. For dinner we had a seafood buffet.

Note the word trying ;)

In the end, others decided to get one too

Fascination with the revolving door haha

The next day, we went to the boathouse. The boathouse is pretty cool in the sense that it has the basic facilities of a house. On the lower deck there were 4 bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a small kitchen and at the front of the boat, there were a few chairs and a small coffee table. But personally I liked the upper deck better as there was a large dining table, a tv with dvd player ( talk about a high tech boat) and the best part a place where u can sit and enjoy the scenes of the lake. The boat takes us around this lake for one whole day and night. Along the way, we stopped by this small village to get sea critters for lunch and dinner.

We met an old man, whom to our suprise knows who Tunku Abdul Rahman is but we had to burst his bubble by letting him know that our very first prime minister passed away sometime ago.

Anyways, some of us spent the afternoon taking pics, watching a dvd ( thanks Yik Ming for bringing it along), playing cards, not to mention the usual activity of talking. The boatride also invoked some thoughts according to the pics below :

Calvin probably feeling a lil nostalgic ;)

Brotherly love (interpret it however u want :)

What happened to brotherly love??!

Me just admiring the beauty of nature ;)

Brokeback mountain alert!!

So the boat finally stopped at another village area for the night. We took a walk along the river, exploring the place a lil. After a dinner of prawns, chicken and fish, we played an intersting game known as Mafia. Ok to ppl who aren't familiar, it's practically a game where person elected mafia kills an innocent citizen by just winking at them. There is also a doctor who can revive dead ppl( miracle worker haha) and a cop responsible of catching the killer. Man we had loads of fun with this one, cuz after every round, we had a discussion where we tried to figure out who played which character, and some ppl were quite convincing in trying to prove their innocence. Some unfortunate souls like Calvin was found guilty rather quickly. As in, it was his first round and ppl already accused him, well the accusation was correct anyway haha.

Everyone was a little worn out, so we retired to bed as the next day was suppose to be a thrilling one cuz it was a visit to WEGA LAND, India's version of Sunway Lagoon I guess.

Entrance to Wega Land

It wasn't too bad actually, had some interesting rides. Especially the ride which was just literally sickening. Sorry no pics cuz I kept my cam safely in the locker but let me describe it. It's some machine which spins like CRAZY!! It practically spins 360 degrees around and all the way to the top. Ok, so this ride was suppose to be 3 mins long but somehow each of us felt like those ppl wanted to play around since were tourists and let it run for 5 mins instead. Some of us like yours truly were screaming our heads off till we were so tired that we just gave up. Some like Brian and Calvin lost their glasses in this puke inducing ride. Everyone was wobbly, some were even a bit sick after the ride. It was our 2nd ride and some of us just gave up on other rides due to it.

After that we hit the wet park which had everyone sliding down and splashing into polluted water haha. Anyway, dinner at Pizza Hut was next and right after that we headed to home sweet hostel.

In conclusion, it was one of the most fun trips I ever had! Seriously! Sometimes I wish that we could go back to that time again, sigh.....

Well good times sure pass by fast....

So a big thank you to all those who made this trip really memorable!! I had an awesome experience!!

Be Yourself....

Being yourself… seems like an easy statement to follow, but is it more easier said than done? One of the most basic things ppl usually give in relationship advice and I mean all types of relationships, be it between friends, family or ur significant other is be yourself.
But what does being yourself actually mean? Ok it is 2 basic words, but it’s meaning is much deeper than u think. To be yourself, you have to be confident of yourself and love yourself first. The first person who should accept u for who u are, is urself. Once u accomplish that, ppl can see and appreciate u for who u really are, not some fake person who pretends that he or she has no flaws. Every person in this world has flaws, there is no denying it cuz that’s who we are. We are suppose to look at a person’s good qualities instead of their flaws but unfortunately some ppl are too judgemental. Don’t ever let judgemental ppl make u change the way u are just to please them cuz real friends are the ones who accept u for ur good qualities and ur flaws.

So basically just be happy with who u are if ur already a good person at heart and don’t hurt others intentionally. There is no need to put up a false front cuz ppl will see right through it in the end. Make them like u for who u are cuz that will be really worthwhile.

Doesn't matter if ur an introvert, extrovert, loud, quiet, bubbly, reserve.... just be who u really were meant to be

Posting after a really long time

Well well well, looks like India's sucky connection prevented me from accessing this website for a really long time. Hopefully this post gets through haha. Anyways, quite a number of events occured during these past few months where I was unable to enter blogspot.
For example, PIDC CUP AND NIGHT, me feeling down in the dumps and the biggest event of 2009 so far would hv to be my FINALS!!!! Oh and not to mention, I went to Kerala last month ( there might be a post on that soon).
Ok my FINALS, it was a slightly different experience, I mean eventhough it's still an exam but once u enter degree stage, I dunno exams are done slightly differently especially in India.
Basically presentation of ur paper counts more than ur content here, so u need to put in loads of diagrams and make sure their COLOURED, and ur handwriting has to be BIG and s p a c e d out nicely, plus they also look at the number of pages u write, the more pages are filled up, the better marks u get apparently. Haha so one way to acheive that is by making sure ur words are the size of elephants (a lil exaggeration).

So all of us went into the exam hall with those tips at hand, and brains crammed up with information. Anyways enough bout the finals, we somehow made it to 2nd year, that's all u need to know haha.

I just discovered Twitter a few days ago, I know call me outdated, and it seems to be quite an interesting thing. I mean I'm following Ashton Kuthcer, Ryan Seacrest, JT and Hugh Jackman aka Wolverine. Get to know a little bout what their up to. So ppl give Twitter a try and pls follow me haha( ok that's optional).

I guess this is enough for now, till next time....

Friends come and go....

Well you always hear the saying friends come and go. It's sad but sometimes its true. I personally want the saying to be friends come and stay forever... but somehow I feel that only that is only applicable if we stop time and no one moves on in their lives.. so its pretty impossible. However, miracles happen and I'm sure that at least one friend will be there forever. I hv seen movies where childhood friends become lifelong friends and I really hope that I will hv a lifelong friend too. But somehow, for now, I hv seen many friends go, and sometimes they stop by to say hi but other than that there is not much to talk about, it's as if were strangers. So to all my friends whom I've met all these years, sometimes I think bout u guys and miss u a little but I know everyone has moved on and found new ppl but I hope none of ull forget each other and me too, haha. To my friends which I hv made now, I hope that u guys will come and be friends forever. Let us try to change that statement in my title and maybe that change will be good. So I hope we will hv great years to come and stick together through thick and thin. I might not show much affection and care but deep down inside I really appreciate u guys being my friends, and I really care for all of u.

Sincerely,
Dashni

Negativity....

Well, as ull know I'm studying in India but I bet u won't know which part. Ur best bet must be Mannipal..... but unfortunately ur wrong. So lets see, not Mannipal, not Bangalore and certainly not Chennai but its a place called... SALEM. To most ppl and also if u try searching the internet bout Salem, it will all direct you to a place in the USA, seriously wish I was in that Salem. Haha, anyway yeah Salem. It's a town in the 5th largest state of India, Tamilnadu. Apparently Salem is categorised under developing but to me its more like under developed.

Here's a list why :
1. The town of Salem is situated 40 freakin minutes away from my college which is in some ulu
part of Salem

2. Absolutely zero entertainment here! I'll elaborate later...

3. Creepy stares from these India dudes who behave like they hv never seen ppl before

4. No civilisation... ok fine maybe a little, a teensy bit

5. Practically the same menu in whichever restaurant you go, even if the restaurant is
supposedly a Chinese restaurant. Basically no variety in their minds!!

There are more but I can't seem to think bout them yet, maybe cuz my mind is already clogged with all the smoke and dust around.

Oh yeah bout the entertainment part, the one and only cinema here plays English movies in TAMIL!!! How am I suppose to catch the latest Batman movie in TAMIL!!! Enga va Batman haha, translation come here Batman. SO LAME!
( Heard the Batman movie is good so go catch it folks in any theatre in MALAYSIA near you)

Anyway there will be more added soon and also pics of this "awesome" place.
I don't mean to sound so negative but it's a fact jack. I unfortunately hv to stay here for 2 years.

Places like this make u miss ur home country so much.... I miss u Malaysia!!

Well I guess there's too much negativity for this post so I'll stop for now.
But I still would like to apologise if I offend anyone but sorry ppl these are facts my experiences.

There are more "facts" to come haha, so till next time......
